Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid Review

2018 has been my Dr Jart year. I bought my first skincare products from their awesome Sinsa store, and was hooked (review here of the Ceramidin Serum and Oil Balm). So when Style Korean asked which products from their store I’d like to try (for free in a PR package), I immediately inwardly yelled “Dr Jart Ceramidin ANYTHING!”. I went for the liquid toner because I’d had my eyes on this for forever, and here’s what I think after a month or so of use!

Purpose & How to Use

The liquid is described on the box as “a moisturizing toner that infuses skin with essential hydration”. The Ceramidin line generally is for intense moisturizing, to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier and prevent dull, rough skin. I think I’ve mentioned that as I’ve gotten older my skin has been changing, and I have much more dryness than I’ve ever had before. Therefore this line really appeals to me!

Directions on the box are very straightforward: “After cleansing, apply a generous amount on entire face”.

If I’m doing a long routine, I’ll apply a mist or thinner toner first, followed by this liquid, then the rest of my routine. However this is actually an awesome product for those who want a shorter routine- it works for me as a toner/essence/serum in one, so it is possible to apply it directly after cleansing, then move onto cream and sunscreen. For my skin type, a little goes a long way!

Product Details & Ingredients

Full name: Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid- I want to note that this seems to be the new, reformulated version compared to the original in the pale yellow packaging. The ingredients list is different too!

Amount: 150ml

Ingredients (I hand-typed this out from my box because a lot of the current lists online are all from the old version of this liquid):

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Alcohol, Betaine, Propanediol, Glycosyl Trehalose, 1,2-Hexanediol, Erythritol, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Diphenyl Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Centella Asiatic Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Ceramide NP, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Curcuma Longa (Tumeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Pyracantha Fortuneana Fruit Extract, Carbomer, Cellulose Gum, Sucrose Distearate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Methylpropanediol, Disodium EDTA, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Citrus Auranthium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, C12-14 Pareth-12, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Dextrin, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Cholesterol, Ceramide EOP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS, Ceramide NS

I know some people freak out seeing alcohol so high up in a list. I personally don’t have a problem with alcohol in skincare, provided I can’t smell it, and the product itself doesn’t dry my skin out (neither happen with this liquid). It’s a personal thing, and if you don’t like it, this may not be for you.

Packaging

I adore the packaging. It’s such a cute square tub, and I love the colours (although it has been mentioned that it’s very reminiscent of Drunk Elephant products). It’s sturdy and easy to travel with too- always a bonus!

The dispenser is just a hole, and it’s not that great. The liquid is still quite easy to control, but I waaaay prefer the pump that the Ceramidin Serum has. I find that when I pour out the hole, because I don’t use cotton pads, it tends to get a little messy.

Texture & Scent

I freakin’ LOVE the scent of this entire line. It’s so herbally, with very subtle citrus undertones. It really makes me happy and enjoy the experience of the product.

The texture of this liquid is also incredible. It’s much thicker than your average “toner”- you can see above it’s not super watery, and has more of a viscous, gel feel. It spreads so easily over skin, and despite the thicker texture, it still absorbs quickly (within 5 minutes) and leaves skin with a gorgeous, moisturized finish, which you can see below.

Overall Performance

Ughhhhh I love this stuff. It’s such a beautiful product to use in terms of the scent, texture, ease of application and layering. It’s just so easy.

Dr Jart claims it’s a product for “very dry skin”, however I really think it would work for most. For my normal-dry skin it’s ideal. It truly nourishes my skin, and leaves it with a beautiful, healthy glow. Flakiness and dry patches are very much reduced for me with consistent use. It also works so well as a one-stop product to save time and tick off the job of toner, essence and serum, in one. I really really like it and reach for it almost daily.

When the Liquid is full price, it’s around $40 or £30 -ish. However right now on Style Korean it’s $28 (that’s not an affiliate link btw, just for your convenience). I think $28 is totally acceptable and justified. A small amount goes a very long way in my experience, and I think this one bottle is going to last a long time. Would I pay full price? I wouldn’t have before, but now I’ve tried it, I really do think I would repurchase at full price. The Ceramidin serum is a bottle of only 40ml, whereas this liquid is 150ml, and I think this is a much better purchase for the price if you can only get one. Together, they are GORGEOUS. If I’m using both I’ll do Liquid-Serum-SPF and go. They work superbly together, or on their own with other products.

What’s your thoughts on Dr Jart products? I used to firmly be of the stance that they were overpriced, and while I still think that of some of their products, this Ceramidin line has truly got me! Would love to hear your experiences, so let me know below!
