I’m here!

Ok! I made it this far with getting a domain name, a host, setting up, coding, and all the other words that make no sense to me. Onto what I came here to do- beauty.

So I thought it would be a good idea just to give you some background about me, my skin, this blog, and basically introduce SkinfullofSeoul.

As you can see in my About Me section, I came to Seoul  from near Newcastle, England, in October 2014 to teach English. I quickly fell in love with the city and have ended up staying here much longer than I ever intended or imagined. A large part of my love for Seoul, although I’m slightly ashamed to admit it (I promise I adore the culture and many other aspects too!), is the shopping. More specifically, cosmetics shopping. I am sure any reader who has visited Seoul will agree with me that it truly is heavenly!

If you haven’t visited this beautiful city, let me paint you a picture. You’re walking down almost any street…you pass an Innisfree beauty store…you walk past a couple more stores then there’s a Missha…two more shops down and there is an Etude House, oh and then an Aritaum. Before you know it you have passed about 5 beauty shops on one street alone. This is no exaggeration. So it’s easy to see how one could become hooked on beauty shopping, and exploring the brands that are so readily available to consumers, wherever you are in Seoul.

In my first six months here I focused on learning about Korean beauty, for example I was not familiar with the terms ‘essence’ or ’emulsion’. Through browsing several fantastic blogs, I learned a lot and began to build my own Korean skincare routine, as well as delving into Korean makeup.

And then, I made a typical mistake…I began buying everything. I would see something I fancied and just grab it; a product was on sale so I’d be persuaded; the packaging was cute so I went for it. If you’re a Korean beauty lover I’m sure you can relate- we’ve all been there! I’m still guilty of this at times but I really try not to thoughtlessly buy anymore, and I’m much more picky with skincare. I have a great collection that I can pick and choose from each day, altering what I use depending on my daily skin needs. This is the big attraction to K-Beauty, being able to build a routine that is extremely flexible, usually without breaking the bank to do so. My skin is normal/combination, often with a monthly breakout. I aim to keep my skin clear and bright.

I’m concerned my K-Beauty relationship history is becoming boring haha, moving on!

So why am I here with this blog? Well I started instagramming my Korean beauty collection. I had learned so much and amounted so many products, I really wanted an outlet to share that, and after encouragement from home friends, @skinfullofseoul was born. I always wanted it to be a blog, but with my crazy hours at the hagwon (academy) I knew I couldn’t fully commit. BUT NOW I HAVE A NEW JOB! And muuuuch more time to do it, so here I am, ready to write, share and discuss anything and everything K-Beauty.

I really hope you’ll join me on this blogging journey!

Here are some images of Korea, to give you an idea of what I get up to here.

    1. Thank you for taking a look at my blog! That’s cool you’re an English teacher too. Ah thank you for the advice! I’m not sure if I will watermark as I feel like I would only want it at the side of the image, and if someone wants to steal it they would probably crop it anyway?! But something for me to think about thank you!
