Review: Cremorlab O2 Bubble Energizing Mask

I’d had my eye on Cremorlab products for a while. They look simplistic and beautiful (so sue me, I’m attracted to good packaging). But would their products live up to my expectations? Ulzzang, a new, high quality online K-Beauty shop selling only EU approved products throughout the UK and Europe, offered to send me the Cremorlab O2 Energy Mask for review, and I jumped at the chance. Let’s see how it worked out.

Who are Cremorlab?

Cremorlab are a Korean cosmetics company, describing themselves as a “natural healing cosmeceutical developed through extensive R&D”.

Taken from cremorlab.co.kr

“Cremorlab’s products harness the power of T.E.N. (Thermal Water Therapy, Eco Healing Energy, Natural Nourishment) a mineral rich thermal water in Geumjin. Natural energy and rare minerals are found from 1,100m below the earth which have outstanding therapeutic value, effective for dry skin as well as other skin problems.”

What is this product?

Well, it’s a little confusing. After some research online, it seems people are using it in various different ways. It’s called a mask, but I’ve read some people are using it as a foam cleanser. The box states:

It’s “a cleansing mask product that cleanses the skin by bubbling oxygenated water to form an oxygen cap on the surface of skin. The oxygen, which provides energy to the skin and removes waste, helps to normalize the turn-over cycle of the skin, while the fine cream bubbles deep-cleanse makeup left inside the pores. T.E.N. Water, developed by the research team at Tongyang Life Science, and Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Powder that energizes the skin, help brighten and smooth the skin.”

I’ve been using it as described:

“Pump 2-3 times on clean dry skin and apply thickly, avoiding the eye area and mouth. Leave on for 5 minutes. When the oxygen bubbles appear, allow product to absorb into the skin, then massage face lightly and rinse with lukewarm water.”

These quick, wash off, oxygen masks are pretty popular in Korea right now.

In simplified terms, I approached this as a rinse off product, which should brighten and smooth my skin.

Ingredients (as per Ulzzang website)

Water, Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate, Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide DEA, Mineral Water, Oxygen, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Glycerine, Triethanolamine, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Onsen-Sui, Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Powder, Glycerine, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, PEG-8, Carbomer, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Rose Flower Oil

Packaging

Simply beautiful. The mask comes in a weighted pump bottle, containing 100ml of product. It’s easy to dispense. The design is simple, but looks stunning in my bathroom, and yeah, I do like that.

Texture and Application

The texture is what makes this product unique. It dispenses as a gel. However on contact with skin it quickly turns into a white cream, before bubbling to a foam.

It initially drags a little when you try to rub in, but quickly eases up. It tingles in a pleasant way (not burny), while you leave it to bubble.

One of the things I really like about the application of the product, is that it’s become part of what I call my ‘shower routine’. These are a group of products I can use in the shower for mornings or evenings when I’m in a rush, and need to multitask. I cleanse before my shower, dry my face, and then use the mask while I continue washing my hair etc. I’m pretty skilled at keeping my face out the water. Just call this the lazy girl’s guide to glow.

Performance

The results of the mask are subtle but pleasant. My skin feels significantly softer and smoother to touch, and slightly brighter, after use. It hasn’t stripped my skin or left it feeling tight, but I have seen some deep cleansing. I can see that the pores across my nose are a little clearer afterwards, although not quite as much as I’d expected. I like that I can easily do it a couple of times a week and think this kind of exfoliation complements my gentle acid exfoliation.

Concluding Thoughts…

This isn’t a life changing product, but it’s definitely a lovely little addition to my stash. I really like having it handy in my shower, and it also looks beautiful in my bathroom (I am aware this shouldn’t affect my judgement..!).

It’s a quick and easy way to soften skin, and I’ve been using it before events for an instantly brighter complexion, and smooth skin ready for make up application. I wouldn’t use it every day, because I think it would be a little much, but it’s perfect for a few times a week.

It’s definitely got me interested in Cremorlab, and I’m looking forward to trying more of their products.

Have you tried this mask? Or any Cremorlab products you’d recommend?
