JayJun Clean Finish Balm Review

First just let me brag on this deal…I BOUGHT THIS FOR 7000KRW ($7)! I bought it in January with the product having a July expiry date, but still? How it was this cheap, down from like 30, I don’t really understand, but I’m damn happy I bought it on a whim. Here’s why.

Purpose & How to Use

On the JayJun mall website, it’s rather in-eloquently described as “a not runny, oil-type cleansing product”. Lol. Not runny. Got it.

Details: “The solid oil type texture gently melts your make-up and black heads conveniently all at once. Various kinds of natural vegetable oils give you clear skin without making it feel tight.”

I did not expect this to melt my blackheads. I expected it to remove my makeup and sunscreen sufficiently before my second cleanse. I don’t use first cleansers to remove eye makeup (I use an eye makeup remover first) so this wasn’t an expectation for me. BUT I have tested it on eye makeup on my hand for you guys who do, further down this post.

Directions are: “Take an appropriate amount and melt the makeup by gently massaging your face and wash it off with warm water or wipe off with tissue.”

Personally, I’ve been applying it to a dry face, massaging in, emulsifying with water and more massaging, then rinsing before continuing with my second step cleanser.

Packaging

The packaging is gorgeous- pink, white lid, and silver detailing. It’s simple but effective for a balm cleanser. My main ick with cleansing balm tubs in general though is that they are not shower friendly. When used in a wet-room bathroom like mine was in Korea, or a shower, they tend to gather a small amount of water on top of the balm in the tub which is just so gross and off-putting to me. In my current bathroom at home in the UK this isn’t an issue.

You also receive a small spatula with the product, which I have misplaced. I always go in with my fingers but the spatula is there if you wish!

Ingredients (as per JayJun mall)

As a wash off product, I don’t feel the need to really go in-depth about the ingredients. Lots of oils as expected.

Mineral Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, SorbitanSesquioleate, Polyethylene, BHT, Tocopheryl Acetate, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, CI 16255, CI 15985, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

Texture & Scent

So one thing I don’t like…the scent. It’s candy-like and very sweet. Having said that, it’s not overwhelmingly strong, and as a wash-off product, very doable. It hasn’t turned me off from using the product.

The texture is a soft balm that melts onto skin into an oil. It’s softer than a lot of balms I’ve used, which I like, and turns to oil more easily on my skin. It doesn’t drag at any point during application, and feels very luxurious on skin.

Overall Performance

Unexpectedly, with me usually being an oil-loving gal, I actually really like this! As far as cleansing balms go, it’s up there with my favourite A by Bom version. It’s easy to get out the tub, massages in very nicely, and perhaps most importantly for me it emulsifies easily and doesn’t take ages to rinse off. It feels pretty luxurious on my skin and also removes my makeup and sunscreen efficiently. Like I said, I did test it on a variety of eye makeup on my hand, which as you can see below it removed fairly easily. The only residue was from a waterproof eyeliner and mascara. All in all, a total win for me with this!

Price & Availability

I got this for a ridiculously low price, and it was worth every penny and more. I’m so happy I grabbed it and got to try it out.

The price on JayJun mall is $31.90, and I feel like if I loved the scent, I would definitely pay it. It is expensive for a first cleanser, but I feel like the tub will last forever (100ml), and the consistency and performance have been great for me. However I don’t think I could pay that for a product I didn’t love every single detail of, so the scent would be the only thing that would probably hold me back from the splurge.

Beautibi I see currently have this product on sale for $18 because theirs expire in June, if you’re interested!
