Review: Purito ABP Triple Synergy Liquid

Acids are an area of skincare I don’t claim to be an expert in- BUT I’ve done a lot of reading, research, and over the past few years have been expanding my testing of different acid products. This Purito product is different to all I’ve tried before in that it contains AHA, BHA and PHA. Thus the rather apt name Triple Synergy. I was excited to test this out, and around 6 weeks into continual daily use, I’m ready to discuss!

*This product was PR gifted to me by Purito

Purpose & How To

Purito claim this is a “mild, no-irritation exfoliant”.

“Mildly and gently removes old and unnecessary dead skin and sebum without stimulus with the optimal blend ratio of ABP- AHA (Mandelic Acid), BHA (Betaine Salicylate), and PHA (Gluconolactone) ingredients. Helps skin turnover and makes skin texture evenly and clean. It is prescribed only with EWG green grade ingredients and can be safely used daily. Suitable for sensitive skin.”

Based on the information and my understanding that there are 3 acids in this one product, my expectations were smoother skin texture, sebum control, reduction of sebaceous filaments, and brighter/clearer skin. Essentially all of the results of the different acid types.

I use the liquid about 5 minutes after cleansing on bare skin, and either wipe across my face with a cotton pad, or pat into my skin with my hands.

Product Details & Ingredients

Name: ABP Triple Synergy Liquid

Amount: 160ml

Ingredients (as per Beauty Tap):

Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Water, Butylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Gluconolactone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Mandelic Acid, Betaine Salicylate, Arginine, Poncirus Trifoliate Fruit Extract, Allantoin, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Panthenol, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Extract

All of the ingredients are EWG safe grade. Now personally, I think EWG are a bit of a scare-mongering group, rather than a scientifically reliable source. After reading about them extensively, and also being on the pro-chemical side of skincare theory, my ideas are not based on EWG grades. However, personal choice! And if their rating is important to you, you can be assured that these ingredients are all very clean in line with their system.

These acids are pH-dependent to work most effectively. The most effective pH is lower than 4. With a pH of 4-4.5 (which means at the upper range of effectiveness) this liquid is particularly gentle, and also made me question how effective it would be.

Packaging

The packaging is ideal. Very simple, large bottle with a pump dispenser. All necessary information is in both Korean and English on the bottle. Hygienic, easy to get the right amount of product, and overall a very well-designed product!

Texture & Scent

The texture is slightly thicker than water. It spreads evenly and easily across skin, and sinks in within a few seconds. It does leave a very slight residue but once other skincare is layered over, you can’t tell.

The scent is quite sweet. Not offensive, not gorgeous, just there and okay.

Overall Performance

A few things first- when a product has a hugely positive effect on my skin, I’ve recently been more hesitant to write about it. This is for a couple of reasons.

1. Firstly, my skin is not the same as you lovely people who read my blog or follow my Instagram. I sometimes feel slightly uncomfortable that people may go out and buy a product based on my glowing reviews and then not have the same positive experience as me. This is, of course, a natural responsibility that comes with writing a review blog like mine. I just hope everyone who reads a positive review of mine realizes that all I can offer is a completely subjective review based on my own skin and experiences, and that it is also their responsibility to understand that before purchasing. A skincare review simply cannot be objective because of how different every single individual’s skin is!

2. Secondly, I think this topic has come to light more for me recently because of all the fake reviews and distrust in the beauty community. I hope from day 1 that I’ve made it clear that PR does not make me write positive reviews. PR is not such a big deal that I’d be willing to write fake reviews for it- I would simply buy my own if I felt I had to write dishonestly. Please check out my Disclaimers tab if you want more info.

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, here is said glowing review! I love this stuff!

From the packaging to the results, this has been a seriously winning product. I’ve used the product once a day, every day, for around 6 weeks. I had previously stopped pretty much all acid use for a few weeks before starting the testing, so I was starting with a clean slate, and have found this incredibly effective.

The clarity and brightness of my skin has been the main result. My skin tone seems to have evened out more than before, and my face has literally been radiant. I’ve been wearing less coverage makeup and can visibly see the glowing effect from the exfoliation. There has also been a level of sebum control. It’s not been as effective as the Cosrx Blackhead Power Liquid for my sebaceous filaments, but their appearance has definitely been reduced.

I was getting way fewer pimples generally over the 6 weeks testing period. I don’t usually break out badly but do get the odd pimple here and there. Those drastically reduced, but it’s very hard to say if this is related to the product. Noone can truly know how their skin would have been without the product, because there are so many uncontrollable factors. When I started my mentrual cycle at the very end of the testing, I broke out really badly, so interestingly the product didn’t prevent that. Below are a couple of photos towards the end of the testing. I don’t have before photos, but I was really happy with my skin in the pictures below.

When comparing the product to my favourite singular BHA (Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid) and AHA (The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toner), I don’t think it’s as effective as each one separately. The Cosrx product battles my sebaceous filaments more effectively, and The Ordinary product gives me smoother skin. However to have an all-in-one product that tackles both to a good extent is pretty cool and certainly saves time and effort (and money!). I think if you’re looking for a singular exfoliating product, Purito ABP Triple Synergy could be the one.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic product for a great price. If you’re in Korea, it’s available on Purito’s website for only 18,900 Korean won right now. I think this is SUCH a bargain. If you’re abroad, it’s available on Beauty Tap for $21. These are prices are so reasonable for such a large quantity, and for such a well-formulated product. I fully stand behind all of Purito’s products I’ve tried, and this is no exception.
